Closet Staples: A timeless shirt dress

silk dress / heels / saddle bag (available at Obligato) also love this one (on sale!) / sunnies

Happy Monday! I had the best weekend in Highlands, NC with great friends. It was so relaxing between laying by the pool, an amazing facial at Old Edwards Spa, and indulging in pasta and great wine at Paolettis. I highly recommend planning a trip there if you have never been, especially to escape the brutal summer heat. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Lately, I have been revamping my closet with timeless staples. In my 20s, I always wanted the latest and greatest and something new to wear for any and ever occasion. Now, I try to ask myself three questions before pulling the trigger on a purchase; is it timeless, can it be easily restyled, and do I feel good in it. I love this Equipment dress because of the style and fit. It feels effortless but instantly makes me feel pulled together. I can’t wait to style this dress as a vest, unbuttoned with cut offs, a lace tank, and lace up flats. A button down dress is a great staple and appropriate for so many occasions. I also love this LBD with a hint of lace, this tie front dress, and this chambray shirtdress. Be sure to check out my favorites pieces by Equipment below. Have a great week! XX

Beauty and Botox with The Skin Wellness Center

View More: start from the beginning, I was in denial. I turned 30 this year (complete with a breakdown) and I thought there should be about 5 less candles on my birthday cake. I have a younger sister, 8 years younger to be exact, and I am all the time trying to convince her (mainly) that we in fact look the same age. HA! All this being said, I needed a boost. A small lift in spirits if you will. I wanted to feel confident and youthful like I did in my 20s.

I have always been curious about Botox and other options to turn back the clock, but honestly didn’t know enough information. Plus I am ALWAYS hesitant with anything that involves needles, pain, possible error (I mean this is my face we are talking about!!), and change. With all this being said, I jumped at the chance to do a collaboration with The Skin Wellness Center, especially when a friend, Chrissy Handly, was doing it. AND I got to go through the experience with a friend and fellow blogger, Hannah Davis. Be sure to go to her blog, Touch of Gray, to read all about her experience!

Here is what happened. I was scared. Actually, scratch that, I was terrified. I was the kind of patient that when Chrissy put the syringe towards my forehead I uncontrollably grabbed her wrist and my eyes swelled up with tears (dramatic, but true). Chrissy couldn’t have been more patient or gentle. After tropical numbing cream was applied, I literally could not feel a thing (literally!). I received a total of 32 units of Botox in my forehead, and could not be HAPPIER with the results!

Now, lets discuss my lips. Yes, I also went for the Juvederm. I have always had a bigger bottom lip than my upper, and was all about making the proportions more equal. Here is the low down. It hurts. But the good news is Chrissy offered me a dental block, which after a few pricks I could not feel a thing. There is swelling and possible bruising (mine was minor), but the results were personally worth it. Chrissy was great at consulting with me at each follow up, as well as studying personal selfies via text (what a sight!), so I was never concerned or worried. I loved the support throughout the entire experience, and her natural approach.

Five Things

{dinner at home with fresh fruit, dressed greens with fried goat cheese, and skirt steak}

{celebrated my sister’s graduation at my uncle and aunt’s house – love their backyard}

{checked into The Dwell House in Chattanooga, TN for a mini getaway – highly recommend}

{wore this stripe dress for date night at Alleia in Chattanooga Wednesday}

{cutest decor at The Dwell House in Chattanooga, TN}

Happy Friday! This week has flown by, and I couldn’t be more excited about a low key weekend. Mid week my boyfriend and I decided to take a mini trip to Chattanooga to visit the new boutique hotel,The Dwell House, that recently opened. I immediately fell in love with the decor. Every detail was better than the next, and our room had the cutest flamingo wallpaper! I highly recommend staying here or at least stop in to experience the retro decor and a drink in their swanky bar. We explored a few places downtown and finished the night at our favorite Italian restaurant, Alleia. It was the perfect mini getaway. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! XX

Utility Romper

Bella Dahl Romper / Dolce Vita Heels (old, similar here and here) / Necklace from Obligato / Sunnies / Rebecca Minkoff Crossbody

I was immediately drawn to this romper because of the color and military/utility feel. Rompers are easy and when its 100 degrees in the summer I always want easy and breathable pieces. I also have this easy shirt dress in my shopping bag, and I am considering trying the trend of platform wedges with these beauties.

I am currently prepping for a small Cinco de Mayo party tonight, including a taco bar and fresh margaritas. I tend to go overboard with parties so I am trying to remind myself that it is just a small get together, after all it is on a Thursday and kid friendly. But I get so excited and if you have an obsession with Anthropologie’s dishes (like me), these colorful bowls are currently on promotion! Happy Cinco de Mayo!! XX

Makers Donuts

J.Crew Jacket (old, similar here) / Joie Top / AG Jeans / Joie Sneakers / Clutch (available at Obligato)

I get overly excited when new businesses pop up in Knoxville, especially when they turn out to be amazing and in my neighborhood. Makers Donuts did not disappoint and they keep getting better with added new flavors! I couldn’t help but taste them all and the chocolate ganache and maple with Benton’s bacon came out on top. Do yourself a favor and try this local business! As for my outfit, I love an all white look and I kept it casual with a military inspired jacket and my favorite sneakers by Joie. This look can easily go from day to night with a high nude heel, a bold lip, and statement earrings. Happy Monday! XX

Off the Shoulder Florals

MuMu Romper (also love this and this casual one) // Dolce Vita Mules (coming to Obligato)

Pink Chicken // J.Crew sandals (on sale!)

This weekend was laid back and spent mostly outdoors enjoying the beautiful and warm weather! I loved how these pictures turned out, especially of C, at this beautiful park in Maryville that we visited for the first time on Saturday. Can’t wait to go back and give the running trail a try!

I tend to mix a feminine piece with something a little more edgy or structured, but this romper was meant to be just that, feminine and sweet. I love the bold print and the off the shoulder detail makes it feel current. Off the shoulder is everywhere right now and I couldn’t help but pick up this top (under $60) and this stripe dress to add to my growing collection. As for C, I can’t get over how precious she looks in this Pink Chicken dress from Twig in Knoxville. (If you haven’t shopped there you are missing out! They have everything from newborn to “tweens”.)  It was too cute not to capture her in some pictures and gave me the perfect excuse to try and tackle the “flower crown”. Let me tell you, it is so much harder than it looks (sigh) and best left to the pros in my opinion, but after seeing these beautiful photos it was totally worth the time and frustration! My tips if you DIY are use smaller blooms and don’t forget greenery, gold wire, and green floral tape. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and happy Monday! XX

Black and White

IMG_3184Joie Blouse / J Brand Denim / Rebecca Minkoff Bag / Vince Jacket / Christian Louboutins

In keeping with the theme “leather for spring”, I wanted to pair my leather jacket with a feminine all white look because black and white is such a classic and timeless combination. I chose this silk Joie blouse for it’s beautiful lace up detail. Lace up details are everywhere for spring and I am also loving this dress and this romper. I tied the jacket in with a few black accessories but kept the look from going too harsh by pairing it with nude pumps. All items can be found at Obligato in Knoxville, TN. Hope everyone is having a wonderful week and as always thanks for stopping by! XX

Leather for Spring

Joie Jogger Pants / Chaser Tank / Vince Leather Jacket / Rebecca Minkoff Bag / Nike Shoes / Prada Sunnies

“He is not there, for he has RISEN just as he said. ” Matthew 28:6

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend with family and friends, and I am so thankful for what the holiday means to me and that Christ died for my sins and rose from the dead. Sadly, I have been stuck in bed since Friday with the flu but things are starting to turn around!

This look is one of my all time favorites. These Joie jogger pants have quickly become my go to pant and even beat out my most lived in Lululemon leggings. I love the effortless look and feel of them, but they look just as fabulous with my highest pumps and a silk top. I kept the look causal with a print tank by Chaser (also love this one), a cross body bag, and my favorites sneakers. The whole look is elevated with this fabulous leather jacket by Vince. A leather jacket can be a great staple for Spring when paired with lighter fabrics and a personal favorite, an all white look (coming soon!). All these pieces can be found at Obligato in Knoxville, TN and if you aren’t local they will ship! Be sure to check them out on instagram @obligatosouth and go to their website to sign up for their weekly newsletter.

Topshop Dress (no longer available, similar here and here) / Gucci Bag / Fringe Heels (old, similar here and here) / Bracelets (here and here)

Blush is everywhere this season, and I love how feminine and fresh the color looks and feels. I love pairing blush with other metallics and blush tops with white distressed denim. I am eyeing this lace blouse and this off the shoulder blouse, both under $100. Another easy way to incorporate blush into your wardrobe is through accessories, like this gorgeous bag and these feminine heels. Happy Monday and thanks for following along! XX
