Not all outfits have to be over the top, over accessorized, or over thought. Some of my favorite looks are well, “basic”. Just be sure to keep it interesting with a pop of color (like this bag), contrasting fabrics, or a pattern like an animal print, camoflauge, or stripes (love this jacket!). Hope everyone had a great weekend! Xx
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and stayed safe and warm. It was freezing here in Knoxville, but I loved seeing how beautiful the town looked covered in snow. It was a great weekend filled with a fun date night at JC Holdway, and some much needed r&r with my man watching The Killing (I’m obsessed!).
I have always been drawn to the clean and chic look of monochromatic dressing. Lately, I keep reaching for different shades of grey and winter whites. I have to admit I am SO pale despite my best efforts to get routine spray tans, and softer shades just seem to look less harsh than all black. The key to pulling off a monochromatic look is to mix various shades and adding different textures is always a plus. I was running late (per usual), and left my grey coat at home. A great coat with with either a tie waist or texture, like faux fur or shearling would really elevate the entire look. I have linked a few of my favorites below!
Happy New Years!! It is hard to believe that it is 2017, but I could not be more excited for the things to come this year. I am about to be in full wedding planning mode, and I can not wait to share some of the inspiration here. I have never been one to make a million resolutions, but I am committed to sharing constant and inspiring content here in the new year. As always, I am incredibly thankful for the support and encouragement!
This look is one of my favorites and a great example of mixing high and low. I scored this jacket at target last year for under $20, and the quality is amazing. I love a jacket with a tie waist, and I love the bright pop of color that is so rare for my closet (embracing more color in 2017). I added this fabulous fur stole (by Linda Richards) to make the jacket look more luxurious and glam. If you don’t have a fur stole I highly recommend investing in one or trying a faux one like this or this because they can completely transform a jacket, sweater, or silk top. I am still embracing the lace up trend, and also love this sweater and this one is on sale! I hope everyone has a great first week in the new year, and I for one can not WAIT for the bachelor tonight!!! Anyone else tuning in?! The first few episodes are always my favorite! Xx
joie sweater / j brand jeans / gucci slides / j crew jacket
Happy Saturday! I have a lot of shopping and wrapping to get done this weekend, and I can’t wait to celebrate one of my best friend’s birthday tonight! I love this causal but festive look, and these slides are so comfortable. I will defiantly be wearing this sweater Christmas Eve, and I bought a size bigger so I can wear it slightly slouchy and off the shoulder. I have linked a few products that I will be ordering today for a few of my family members. You can shop these items below, including a cozy robe and snow boots for Caroline, a gorgeous coat for my fiancé, and a carry on bag (under $100!) well, for me! We leave for New York next Friday and I couldn’t resist! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Xx
Pajama Set – available at Obligato by Bella Dahl (also in blue and in a red short sleeve + pant version)
Every Christmas Eve, it has become a family tradition for my sisters and I to open Christmas pajamas and (naturally) change immediately into them! I love a cozy pajama set and last year my mom had our tops monogrammed. Lets be real, in the South, we LOVE a monogram, and it is such a wonderful and personal touch. I can’t wait to gift a few of my girlfriends a pair with their monogram on them!
It’s that time of year where I am all about being cozy. You can usually find me wrapped in a blanket by the fire or coming straight home to throw on sweatpants and a sweatshirt. I have rounded up a few of my favorite cozy items, and they would all make such wonderful gifts! Shop my picks below Xx
Cyber Monday is here!! I have rounded up a few of my favorite picks from four different sales currently going on now. I have linked everything from these over the knee boots (pictured above), to cozy pjs for Christmas morning (Jcrew), to my favorite coffee table books (Shopbop). Don’t miss out on these great opportunities to save!
The dress pictured is currently unavailable from Zara, but there are several other great floral options there. Also, my favorite fur scarf (pictured above) is currently on sale and can be found in my Shopbop picks. Recently, I just picked up the perfect lace up sweatshirt thats both cozy and sexy, and can be found in my Bloomingdale picks. For the home, I have linked up my favorite cheese board and gold rimmed chargers, and can be found in my Anthropologie picks. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and weekend. It has been such a whirlwind of excitement since we got in engaged, and now we are officially less than a year away from the big day!! I must admit there have been several overwhelming moments (do you know your calligraphy style???) but for the most part it has been wonderful. I have officially nailed down a venue, photographer, florist, and my save the dates are in the works. I can not wait to see what the Happy Envelope comes up with for our crest! But mostly, other than marrying the love of my life on 10.7.17 (obviously ;)), I can not wait to find THE dress and register! I am on the fence about registering for china, and instead I might go for a dressier everyday. Any and all suggestions are welcomed!! Hope everyone has a wonderful week. Xx
*dress and shoes available at Obligato
I do not commit to or try ever trend, but I am loving the look of a cold shoulder. A shoulder cut out can easily make a simple dress or top interesting, and I love the slither of skin that is exposed. This jacket is hands down my favorite piece of the season, and the green suede breaks up all the black that I am so guilty of constantly wearing. I am also loving this jacket in burgundy and have linked it, as well as “a look for less” for the gal on a budget (aren’t we all), below! Xx
